Mount Toubkal Trek in 2 days
- The trek up to Mount Toubkal takes 2 days and is considered high-level. It is necessary to have good physical fitness.
- Morocco’s highest peak is Mount Toubkal (4167m)
- Imlil (1740m) is the famous Berber village that marks the entrance to Toubkal National Park and where most expeditions to Toubkal begin.
Day 1: Marrakech (hotel) – Imlil (1700m) – Armed – Neltner Refuge (3207m):
- We’ll take you to Imlil after picking you up from your Marrakech hotel or riad.
- This is where the trekking route begins and where mountain guides, mules, and mules meet. After taking a tea break, they will embark on the walking route to the Neltner refuge (3208m).
- After passing the village of Armed (2050m), you can get a spectacular panoramic view of the Toubkal National Park, the Imlil valley, and Jbel Toukbal, which is the highest peak in Morocco at 4167m.
- Continue the climb by passing through Marabout Sidi Chamharouch’s sanctuary, which is also known as the Sultan of the Devil (2310m). Carry on until you reach Neltner Refuge (3208m).
- We’ll have lunch on the way.
- Accommodation and dinner at the Neltner Refuge.
- Walking for about 5 hours
Day 2: Neltner Refuge (3207m) – Summit Mt Toubkal (4167m) – Neltner Refuge (3207m) – Ait Mizan Valley – Imlil (1700m)- Marrakech (hotel):
- Have breakfast in the hut and then hike up to the top of Toubkal (4167m).
- At the start of the ascent route, there is a slope of around 200 meters. After it softens, it reaches 3700 meters. We will then have to climb back up to 3850 meters, where we will find a ridge and finally the ridge that takes us to the summit.
- After pondering the magnificent views, we headed to the shelter for lunch.
- Our plan is to descend to Imlil (1740m) by following the principal trail of the valley and observe the river Ait Mizane in its vicinity.
- Walking for about 9-10 hours
- Our vehicle will pick you up in Imlil and return to Marrakech, where it will arrive at 18:00 hours.
- You’ll be dropped off at your hotel/riad accommodation in Marrakech by our driver.
